New cycle paths around the Zegrze Reservoir and in Nieporęt Municipality – an investment in active mobility and safety
As the lead partner of the project “Creating a network of cycle paths around the Zegrze Reservoir with complementary sections in the municipalities of Nieporęt, Radzymin, Serock and Wieliszew”, Nieporęt Municipality has obtained European Union funding for further long-awaited investments. The project will extend a coherent and safe cycling infrastructure around the Zegrze Reservoir, greatly improving comfort for residents and making the region more attractive to visitors.
New sections in Rynia, Białobrzegi and Zegrze Południowe
As part of the project, new sections of cycle routes are being built in Zegrze Południowe, Nieporęt, Rynia and Białobrzegi.
Rynia – ul. Wczasowa (1.36 km)
A 1.36 km cycle path will be built along ul. Wczasowa, between ul. Spacerowa and the bus stop in Rynia. Tenders were opened on 23 February 2026. The work is scheduled to take 7 months from the date the contract is signed.
Rynia – side dam of the Zegrze Reservoir (1.94 km)
Another 1.94 km section will run along the side dam of the Zegrze Reservoir, between ul. Główna and ul. Wczasowa. A contractor has been selected and the project is currently at the design stage. Completion is planned for September 2026.
Białobrzegi – ul. Wojska Polskiego
In Białobrzegi, a cycle path is being built along ul. Wojska Polskiego – from the petrol station to where it joins the existing path. A contractor has been selected and the work is due to be completed in May 2026. The investment will improve road safety and ensure the route is continuous.
Zegrze Południowe – along the Narew and ul. Warszawska (2.19 km)
Two sections are planned in Zegrze Południowe:
- the first – along the service road running parallel to ul. Warszawska, between ul. Zegrzyńska and ul. Rybaki,
- the second – along the Narew river (on the embankment), from ul. Rybaki to the border between Nieporęt and Wieliszew municipalities.
In total, a 2.19 km cycle path and a shared footpath and cycle path more than half a kilometre long will be built here. This task is at the design stage.
At the same time, in January 2026 Nieporęt Municipality applied for funding for the project “Expanding active individual mobility infrastructure in Nieporęt Municipality”, which includes further key investments.
Wólka Radzymińska – ul. Topolowa (632 m)
A cycle path and footpath is planned along a 630 m stretch of ul. Topolowa – from ul. Szkolna to regional road 631. The task covers both the design documentation and the construction work. The investment will make the area safer for residents and make everyday journeys easier.
Dąbkowizna – link to Białobrzegi (approx. 1,870 m)
As part of the upgrade of county road 1812W and part of regional road 624 in Dąbkowizna, a footpath and cycle path with associated infrastructure will be built. The section, approximately 1,870 m long, will link ul. Wojska Polskiego in Białobrzegi with Dąbkowizna railway station.
Dąbkowizna – Nieporęt Municipality border (over 3,400 m)
The investment will continue with the upgrade of county road 1813W and part of regional road 624, including a cycle path more than 3,400 m long – from Dąbkowizna railway station to the Nieporęt Municipality border.
Together, all the planned projects will create a modern, coherent and safe network of cycle routes around the Zegrze Reservoir and throughout Nieporęt Municipality. They will not only make everyday travel more comfortable for residents, but will also support the development of tourism and recreation in the region.
This is another step towards sustainable transport, a better quality of life and public spaces that welcome everyone – cyclists, pedestrians and local residents alike.
